Mood Company: born out of love for Scotland (and a little bit of rain)
Some stories begin with a glass of whisky.
Ours began with a hearty walk.
When Edwin walked the West Highland Way, he fell in love with Scotland. The rugged mountains, the landscape, the people… and yes, also a good dram from time to time.
Miriam was initially a bit more reserved. Rain, wind? That didn’t seem like her cup of tea. Until we went on a round trip and she – singing in the rain – let out one “Ooooh!” after another “Aaaah!”. That’s when we knew: this country is in our hearts.
From wow moment to webshop
All over Scotland, we found special products: scented candles, woolen plaids, handmade soap, and robust home accessories. Things with character, atmosphere, and craftsmanship. Exactly what we were looking for, but couldn’t find anywhere in the Netherlands.
We contacted the team at Isle of Skye Candle Company and not long after, the first pallet was on our doorstep.
Mood Company was born. By now, you can find more than 2,000 unique products, ranging from gifts from Scotland to authentic Scottish home accessories.
A family story
We wanted our children to experience where our passion came from, so we took them on a journey. During the 3-Isle Tour from our beloved base Oban, the puffins on Staffa made a particularly deep impression. And on Skye, they even got to make candles themselves at our producer – something they are still proud of.
Those are the moments that matter.
Who are we?
Miriam is our atmosphere creator, storyteller, and Christmas queen – as Chief Marketing & Christmas Officer she ensures everything is warm, inviting, and festive.
Edwin is our logistical engine, quality guardian, and whisky whisperer – as Chief Operating & Whisky Officer he makes sure everything is right, from inventory to shipping.
Together we are building a webshop full of atmosphere, with products that we would want in our own home. Because that is our standard: products with a story, from Scotland, chosen with love.
