Wool cleans itself. Let dirt dry up and then pat it out. This is why woollen picnic blankets have been so much in use since grandmother's time.

For a festival you want a simple and easy-to-carry plaid then a fleece plaid is a great option. A real picnic in the park or garden naturally requires a big plaid made of new wool.
